Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette Resort & Spa Review: A First-Hand Experience

Our very own Kerry Miller recently enjoyed a stay in Mauritius, so we thought we bring you her honest Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette Resort & Spa Review. Here are her thoughts, from the Air Mauritius flight to the rooms and food.  Whether you have an epic Mauritius escape on the cards this year or not, it’s always fun to learn more about awesome resorts. Right? To that end, our PTC Kerry Miller recently headed out to the island to compile a Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette Resort & Spa Review.  Here’s everything she discovered, from taking to the skies with Air Mauritius to trying the beach BBQ and even touring the nearby sister hotel, Radisson Blu Azuri Resort & Spa.  But first, let’s fill you in on some background information about this stellar resort.  Resort Overview Stationed on an incredible stretch of private beach, Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette is one of the best resorts for couples in Mauritius, resting just 30 minutes from all the best things to do in Grand Baie. If you’ve booked a stay in one of the 100 rooms at this adults-only Mauritius resort then prepare for chic and contemporary styling.  Plus, you could also get to know the selection of 5 bars and restaurants, which includes a super trendy rooftop bar gazing out over the shimmering Indian Ocean.  When you manage to get out of your room and those bars and restaurants, you could pass the time by taking a leisurely stroll along the beach. Or learn something new with cooking and cocktail-making classes. If that all sounds too much like hard work, you could always take a load off in the soothing spa – just like Kerry did!  Speaking of Kerry, it’s probably about time we go to her experience!  Flying Business Class Air Mauritius  We started our island journey by flying on Air Mauritius. We flew business class on the way out and economy coming home and I’d recommend that anybody takes the opportunity to upgrade if they can.  In business class, we were welcomed onto the flight with a glass of champagne and a food menu to select our in-flight meals. To that end, I have to say the food on the flight was lovely. Plus, the staff are so attentive, someone was constantly coming round to see if we would like any more drinks.  Once they’ve completed the food rounds, they then come around and add mattress toppers to all the seats so you have a more comfortable area to sleep in. All the seats had lots of legroom and even if you couldn’t recline your seat, there were pouffes available so that you could still raise your legs and relax. Pillows and blankets are there to help you get comfortable, plus, if you can’t drift off, there’s a great entertainment selection available to help pass the time. Overall, we had an incredible experience in the business class cabin and, like I said, I’d recommend upgrading to anyone. It just gets your holiday off to the best possible start.  Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette Resort & Spa Review We had a private transfer, so moving from the airport to the resort was a breeze.  First impressions of the resort were good. It’s an adults-only hotel so it’s a lot quieter than more family-orientated spots on the island. So it’s perfect for couples who want a super-chilled beachfront holiday in a tropical paradise. If you like kicking back with a good book, then this is the place for you.  However, if you want more entertainment during the day, there is a free shuttle which goes to the sister resort Radisson Blu Azuri Resort & Spa three times daily. There you’ll find more water sports, activities, bars and restaurants to explore.  What Are the Restaurants and Bars Like? Ordinarily, there are 3 restaurants and 2 bars at Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette, but one was closed while we were there.  In the morning you have breakfast in the buffet restaurant and there is a great selection of dishes and ingredients to choose from. At lunch, you could eat at the a la carte restaurant under a gazebo area. We couldn’t fault the food during our stay. At lunchtime, there was a good selection of international favourites like pasta, pizzas, burgers and paninis. Meanwhile, the dinner menu featured lots of fresh fish and more. Honestly, it was all delicious.  I would say that the menus in each a la carte restaurant are reasonably limited. So, if you’re staying for 10 nights or longer, you may start to see the repetition. But you could choose to dine out at the Azuri site instead to break up your experiences.  Are There Any Activities at Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette? As I mentioned earlier, it is a quiet location and you can’t really strike out on foot somewhere outside of the resort. It is right on the beach and that area is gorgeous. There is a coral reef just off the beach, so it’s a great place for swimming, snorkelling and diving around the colourful corals. Because of this coral, and its delicate ecosystem, Radisson Blu Poste Lafayette doesn’t offer water sports. If splashing about in the surf is a non-negotiable on your trip, then take the complimentary shuttle to the sister resort where a whole range is available.  But, I will say, the water can get a little choppy at times, there was a red flag on one of the days we were there so we couldn’t swim in the ocean that day – the manager later explained that we had just caught the end of a monsoon so the weather was a little unpredictable.  The pool area is elevated on the beachfront too, so you get those beautiful views over the ocean. There are some raised glass barriers around the poolside too, these do a great job of shielding you from any wind coming off the water.  Evening Entertainment There is entertainment each evening. We saw singers and […]
