Caribbean Holidays

What To Do Once You've Booked

Once you’ve booked your winter sun holiday with Blue Bay Travel, you’ll want to take care of a few administrative tasks. First, print out your ATOL Certificate and double-check the details are correct. This certificate offers financial protection in the event any of the listed ATOL holders cease trading.

Next, get your travel insurance organised. It’s best to buy travel insurance as soon as you’ve made any payments for your trip; that way, you’re covered in case circumstances change and you can’t travel.

It’s also always a good idea to print out hard copies of your booking and flight information to take with you. This way, you have backups in case you can’t get internet access or anything happens to your electronic devices.

You’ll also want to organise any necessary visas. For example, UK travellers will need a visa to travel to the Maldives but not Mauritius, and the Dominican Republic will provide a tourist card on arrival. You should also check the vaccination recommendations and requirements for your destination and schedule any necessary inoculations or booster injections.

Caribbean Holidays: FAQ

Which Caribbean destinations do you offer?

We feature a curated selection of sun-soaked islands, each offering unique experiences:

  • Antigua: Boasts 365 beaches, one for each day of the year, and a laid-back atmosphere.
  • Barbados: Famous for its white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and lively festivals.
  • Dominican Republic: Features diverse landscapes, from beaches to mountains, and a rich history.
  • Grenada: The “Spice Isle,” famous for lush rainforests, waterfalls, and aromatic spice plantations.
  • Jamaica: Offers a mix of reggae culture, stunning waterfalls, and all-inclusive resorts.
  • Mexico: Known for its vibrant nightlife, rich culture, and beautiful beaches.
  • St Lucia: Known for its volcanic peaks, lush rainforests, and luxury resorts.
  • Tobago: Offers a tranquil escape with pristine beaches and vibrant coral reefs.

When’s the best time to visit the Caribbean?

The Caribbean is wonderfully warm year-round. Peak season typically runs from December to April for sunshine and lower humidity. You’ll also find great value and quieter beaches in late spring and early autumn — perfect for a fly-and-flop escape.

What’s included in a Caribbean package holiday?

Our packages are designed for maximum ease: flights, luggage, accommodation and transfers are included. Many of our featured resorts are all-inclusive, covering meals, drinks and selected activities, so you can focus on perfecting your sun-lounger technique.

How long is the flight from the UK?

Direct flight times are usually around 8–11 hours depending on the island and routing. As a guide: Barbados, Antigua, St Lucia and Jamaica are often 8–10 hours; the Dominican Republic and Mexico’s Caribbean coast can be 9–11 hours.

Do I need a visa or any special travel documents?

Most UK holidaymakers don’t need a visa for short stays (up to 90 days) in our featured Caribbean destinations, but entry rules can change. Always check the latest guidance for your passport before you book and again before you fly.

What about weather and hurricane season?

The Caribbean enjoys a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round. Hurricane season typically runs from June to November, but major storms are rare. Southern islands like Barbados and Tobago are less prone to hurricanes. The driest months are typically December–April.

Which islands are best for couples, families or first-timers?

Couples: St Lucia & Antigua for romantic resorts and postcard views.
Families: Barbados, Jamaica & the Dominican Republic for wide beaches and great kid-friendly hotels.
First-timers: Mexico’s Riviera Maya & Barbados for easy all-inclusive choices and lots to do.

Can I still book a last-minute deal?

Absolutely. We keep a rotating selection of last-minute holidays ready to go — perfect when you want sunshine now. Availability can be limited in peak months, so if you spot your dream resort at the right price, snap it up.

How far in advance should I book?

For the best deals and availability, it's recommended to book your Caribbean holiday 3 to 6 months in advance, especially for travel during peak seasons (December to April). Last-minute deals may be available, but options can be limited.
