Blue Bay Go Back to School to Show Students the “Life of a Travel Agent”
Blue Bay Sales sat down with students from Shireland Collegiate Academy to talk all things travel & tourism.
Our very own Sales Team Leader Beth Trueman met, over a Teams meeting, with students from a Smethwick school to discuss the life of a Travel Agent.
The project, completed in collaboration with Shireland’s Head of Travel and Tourism, Chelsea Loxton, was aimed at developing the agents of tomorrow by giving them an insider’s view of the industry.
The session
During the meeting, the group were given travel-related tasks to complete and a Q&A session took place. They also discussed a number of topics including creating itineraries, identifying and meeting customer needs, and general life in the industry.
Beth said of the meeting:
I was thrilled to help the students at Shireland Collegiate Academy. Miss Loxton approached us at Blue Bay Travel to see if we could support students with their latest module on the Travel & Tourism qualification, which focuses on putting itineraries together for a customer.
It was a really fun session, and the students were able to put together itineraries using their coursework and our websites. The students were full of questions about Travel & Tourism and what it’s really like to work in our wonderful industry.
Coming to a school near you
The travel industry can be a tough sector to penetrate for budding agents. So Blue Bay see these sessions as a way of developing new industry talent as well as developing opportunities in the local area.
As part of the business’s commitment to giving back to the local community, Blue Bay are now hoping to run similar sessions with budding agents in nearby Newcastle & Stoke colleges.
“Seeing so many young people wanting to get into the travel industry is so exciting. As a company, we want to support these future industry professionals. We’re looking forward to getting involved with more events around our local area and further afield.” Continued Beth.
