The home of the capital of Europe, Belgium boasts a rich cultural heritage. However, every city in the country has its own personality. Antwerp is famous for its contributions in the world or jewellery and fashion. Bruges offers its spectacular canals, while Brussels is the home of European politics and all of the above are like love notes to incredible architecture.

Art

As you might imagine, Belgium’s cities are thronged with art galleries housing masterpieces from revered renaissance painters through to surrealist giants. While its streets are adorned with renowned sculptures. Famous old works by Tom Frantzen including Madame Chapeau rub shoulders with modern landmarks like the Polak’s Atomium sculpture.

Cuisine

Belgian cuisine is world renowned, and with good reason. From pomme frites, beautiful beers and mouth-watering chocolate, not to mention mussels, there’s something for everyone to enjoy on the menus of Belgium. Where else could you find a museums dedicated to chocolate and fried potatoes?

History

Belgium has played a key role in European history throughout the years. For centuries it has borne the brunt of international conflicts, from historical invasions through to the more recent history of the First and Second World Wars. The latter of which leaving a particular mark with museums and former prison camps offering tourists a window to the continent’s murky past.
