Around the World in 13 Days: Wireless Monks and Pink Dolphins

Having never experienced the Far East before I was eager to get to Hong Kong. Hong Kong is very westernised (unsurprising considering it was still under British Rule until 1997) but is still full of its own unique charms and charisma. If, like me, you're eager to explore exciting new cities then the Hong Kong metro system is a good way to get around, as it is cheap, clean, and easy to use.

Dubai Experience

On the 27th March 2009 I flew out to Dubai, this was my first trip to this part the world. Although the journey was a 6 hour flight, I was looking forward to it, knowing we we're about to board the new Emirates A380. The A380 is the largest and most luxurious new form of airplane. I was very comfortable through out the flight and had the choice to watch all the latest films on demand.

Thailand Diary – Krabi & Phi Phi Island

The journey we took was overland from Phuket. On the way we passed through the Phang Nga Bay area and had the chance to see the stunning rock formations that line the coastline up close. Once at Krabi town we were taken to the pier to transfer by speedboat to our hotel the ‘Rayavadee’. The journey was only 15-20 minutes yet I must have taken more photos’ than our entire journey put together.

Thailand Diary – Hua Hin

Hua Hin is appox 3 hours transfer time from Bangkok airport by car or minibus, so for those who don’t fancy another flight to get to resort this could be the answer. The resort has grown from a small fishing village to a busy town, with many hotels, shops bars and restaurants. Unlike Phuket, Pattaya and Koh Samui, Hua Hin has a more relaxed feel, the average age of travellers here is slightly higher than the other resorts hence the nightlife is more low key and definitely less sleazy.

Bangkok offers a wealth of experiences for all travellers to this fascinating city, from haggling in the busy street markets to designer shopping and fascinating cultural tours of the many temples and floating market. As we were there for 2 days we only had chance to sample a very small selection of what is on offer.
