It was all in the name of beginning the whirlwind success that is known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCDVnKgMzjDnay3Bca14gO6Q\" target=\"_blank\"><u>InFocus<\/u><\/a>. A bit about me first: I&#8217;m the guy that you are probably now used to seeing in our behind the scenes videos and photos. Always armed with an iPhone and a penchant for a selfie, I capture everything that goes on behind the scenes of our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCDVnKgMzjDnay3Bca14gO6Q\" target=\"_blank\"><u>InFocus<\/u><\/a> projects, whilst endeavouring to become the title of the\u00a0best Production Assistant in the land.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCDVnKgMzjDnay3Bca14gO6Q\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18006 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogimg.bluebaytravel.co.uk\/uploads\/2016\/01\/me.jpg\" alt=\"Martyn\" width=\"700\" height=\"440\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bluebaytravel.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/me.jpg 700w, https:\/\/bluebaytravel.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/me-300x188.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Those 420 days, 5 hours\u00a0and now 11 minutes have been dedicated to creating the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCDVnKgMzjDnay3Bca14gO6Q\" target=\"_blank\"><u>very best video content<\/u><\/a> for holidaymakers the world over, stacking up some epic travel stats along the way:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2022 <strong>Visited 9 countries<\/strong> (my passport is filling up with stamps!)<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 <strong>Flown on 15 planes<\/strong> (good job I\u2019m not scared of flying)<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 <strong>Boarded 7 boats<\/strong> (wish I could say the same for boats; sea sick tablets are always at hand)<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 <strong>Filmed at 27 hotels and resorts<\/strong> (I have to get used to making my own bed when I return from each trip!)<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 <strong>Uploaded 78 videos<\/strong> (with another 27 on the way)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCDVnKgMzjDnay3Bca14gO6Q\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18007 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogimg.bluebaytravel.co.uk\/uploads\/2016\/01\/plane.jpg\" alt=\"plane\" width=\"700\" height=\"440\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bluebaytravel.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/plane.jpg 700w, https:\/\/bluebaytravel.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/plane-300x188.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Our quest is to show you why you should make the Caribbean the <strong>top of your holiday hit-list<\/strong>, through <strong>honest accounts<\/strong> of hotels, resorts and excursions. With offers of personal bag carrier, coffee maker, food tester, runner and many more, I have come to the conclusion that lots of you out there are trying to steal my job!<\/p>\n<p>It is impossible to explain everything that goes into being a production assistant on these mega jaunts. I&#8217;ve become a <strong>jack of all trades<\/strong>, and here is just a tease of what a typical day includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u2022 Ensuring everything runs to schedule<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Make sure we are in the right place at the right time<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Be sure everyone is fed and watered<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Be a top notch lighting assistant (being 6 foot 6 gives me a great advantage)<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Make sure we feature the very best places in each destination<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Ensure everyone is smiling\u00a0 <strong>\ud83d\ude42<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Being an expert sound assistant<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Being a Ninja (OK not an actual ninja, but I need to be\u00a0ready for any scenario; ninja sounds way cooler, though)<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Liaise with staff and management<\/li>\n<li>\u2022 Making sure James (our director) remembers to sleep (the time\u00a0this man spends awake is <em>beyond\u00a0human<\/em>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18005\" src=\"https:\/\/blogimg.bluebaytravel.co.uk\/uploads\/2016\/01\/bts.jpg\" alt=\"bts\" width=\"700\" height=\"440\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bluebaytravel.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/bts.jpg 700w, https:\/\/bluebaytravel.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/bts-300x188.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>No one day is the same on any trip and this keeps me on my toes. The days are long, the wake up calls are early, but the fruits of our are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCDVnKgMzjDnay3Bca14gO6Q\" target=\"_blank\"><u>the best videos you\u00a0could imagine<\/u><\/a>. Seeing your ideas come to life on screen is so gratifying, even more so when we see how much you all appreciate seeing <strong>what it is really like<\/strong> to stay at some of the best resorts around. Waves Barbados<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>The first place I ever stayed in the Caribbean was Waves Barbados. It was everything I&#8217;d imagined\u00a0Barbados would\u00a0be, and more, with a <strong>beautiful beach<\/strong> and <strong>stunning view<\/strong>\u00a0that you are drawn to the moment you enter the resort.\u00a0It holds a special place in my heart.<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/rqsxPYl0do4?list=PL5-pp74o00ttbBbNxTLCl0UKBgstIo-rL\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>2. Excellence Riviera Cancun<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>I still can\u2019t get over the first time I stepped foot into Excellence Riviera Cancun. I can smell the <strong>signature Excellence aroma<\/strong> just thinking about it. I was told to <strong>expect luxury<\/strong> and that I&#8217;d want for nothing, but I really wasn\u2019t prepared for how <strong>impeccable<\/strong> the resort would be. The attention to detail was outstanding, the food was mouthwatering, and the staff were like no other. It is at the top of my holiday hit-list forever more.<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/videoseries?list=PL5-pp74o00ttHAhJfvaXOgk4pUcTDpnCI\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>3. Carnival Cruise<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>I was a bit anxious about getting on board the Carnival Breeze for what was set to be a <strong>whirlwind tour<\/strong> with pit stops in <strong>Jamaica<\/strong>, <strong>Grand Cayman<\/strong>, <strong>Mexico<\/strong> and <strong>Miami<\/strong>. I was so excited to visit these incredible countries, but I&#8217;ve always had a tendency to get\u00a0sea sick. I needn\u2019t have worried; the grand scale of the ship cruising calmly through the Caribbean was <strong>like being on land<\/strong>, I never even realised we were on the open seas. This meant I could enjoy everything the cruise had to offer, including the <strong>best burger<\/strong> I have <em>ever<\/em> eaten courtesy of Guy Fieri.<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KgsQXMTkEBs\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>4. Dunn\u2019s River Falls<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>Being responsible for setting up the best things to feature at each destination we visit, I was told <strong>Dunn\u2019s River Falls<\/strong> in Jamaica was a must. We were only visiting Jamaica for the day, so it was important to make the most of it. I trusted what I had been told and we headed to the waterfalls. Being slightly sceptical on how amazing a waterfall could possibly be, any concerns were completely wiped when I first stepped foot at the mouth of the waterfall. Climbing the falls was the most <strong>exhilarating<\/strong>, <strong>breath-taking<\/strong> and <strong>adventurous<\/strong> thing I have done in my life. I felt a sense of pride upon reaching the top and felt capable of doing anything. I may have lost a pair of my favourite sunglasses in the process, but it was a small price to pay for feeling on top of the world when reaching the peak of the best waterfall I have ever seen (or <em>conquered<\/em> for that matter).<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1cKaMKiyv8A\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">5. Palm Island<br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong>Our latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCDVnKgMzjDnay3Bca14gO6Q\" target=\"_blank\"><u>InFocus<\/u><\/a> trip was our biggest yet. Spanning 26 days, 4 countries and flying on 9 planes we had a lot to achieve and some incredible places to see. Our final stop was one that I am very grateful for. <strong>Palm Island Resort<\/strong>.\u00a0Whenever I imagine paradise I think of somewhere remote, with <strong>white sands<\/strong>, <strong>blue waters<\/strong>, and <strong>endless views<\/strong>. Palm Island delivers this and more. Leaving any cares or stresses I had behind as we set sail for the island, I couldn\u2019t believe I was lucky enough to be visiting one of <strong>the most sought after resorts in the Caribbean<\/strong>.
