Maxine Rowland

General Manager

During my 30 years in the travel industry I have seen some dramatic changes; everything that happens in the world affects the industry in some way, it’s ever changing and evolving. The first holiday I ever booked for a customer was a Cosmos Tourama booking (to Egypt I think) back in 1986, since then I have worked in a variety of roles including Regional & Commercial Management and previously as Head of Commercial Development here at Blue Bay Travel. I love the characters who work in this industry, they are lively and have a shared passion. We are all true work hard, play hard people.

I am responsible for delivering the overall vision and service focused culture of the company by heading up the development of our people, identifying our talent of the future and driving our commercial strategy and performance.

I am married with 2/3 children (we’re a blended family) and 2 dogs, so life is busy! I love spending time with the family, which gets more difficult to co-ordinate as they grow up, making holidays together even more important to our lives.

In a nutshell.

  • Describe yourself in three words: Busy, busy, busy!
  • Catchphrase: "Any News??"
  • Likes: Numbers (sad I know). An early morning run at the weekend. Dogs. That time of day when the sun's going down but its still warm. Watching my children sleep (is that weird?)
  • Hidden talent: I love singing (but I'm seriously bad)... hardly a talent and probably best left hidden!
  • Lesser-known fact about you: I can play the drum (single, marching band style only!)
  • Best feeling in the world: Long sunny days with the family, preferably with a cool swimming pool close by & favourite snack in hand.
  • Favourite snack: Bread, balsamic & olives, preferably accompanied by wine – yum!
  • What type of hat best describes your personality: A sunhat, I like to be outside on sunny days and I try to protect people from exposure to something that may be harmful to them.
  • If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why: To be able to be in two (or more) places at once, every working Mum will know why!
  • Best holiday you’ve ever had: A convertible road trip through California, Arizona & Nevada
