Dave Explores Thailand and Dubai – Part 2

After an early breakfast, we were transferred back to Bangkok airport where we took a 1-hour connecting flight with Thai Airways to the Island of Phuket. From Phuket airport we were transferred to the Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Mai Khao Beach, this hotel is around 20 Minutes from the airport and is set on a stunning beach overlooking the Andaman Sea.

Dave Explores Thailand and Dubai – Part 1

We meet our Kuoni tour leader Kat and her Assistant Nicola together with our Emirates Rep David at Newcastle Airport at 11.00am. Our flight left on time and the Business Class experience was superb, with state of the art in-flight entertainment with over 1600 different channels to choose from, amazing food, and full flat beds seats for comfort and rest on the flight. Upon arrival in Dubai we were met by our ground agent and took the 10 Minute transfer to the Grand Hyatt.

Thailand Diary – Krabi & Phi Phi Island

The journey we took was overland from Phuket. On the way we passed through the Phang Nga Bay area and had the chance to see the stunning rock formations that line the coastline up close. Once at Krabi town we were taken to the pier to transfer by speedboat to our hotel the ‘Rayavadee’. The journey was only 15-20 minutes yet I must have taken more photos’ than our entire journey put together.

Thailand Diary – Hua Hin

Hua Hin is appox 3 hours transfer time from Bangkok airport by car or minibus, so for those who don’t fancy another flight to get to resort this could be the answer. The resort has grown from a small fishing village to a busy town, with many hotels, shops bars and restaurants. Unlike Phuket, Pattaya and Koh Samui, Hua Hin has a more relaxed feel, the average age of travellers here is slightly higher than the other resorts hence the nightlife is more low key and definitely less sleazy.

Bangkok offers a wealth of experiences for all travellers to this fascinating city, from haggling in the busy street markets to designer shopping and fascinating cultural tours of the many temples and floating market. As we were there for 2 days we only had chance to sample a very small selection of what is on offer.
